Pesto, kalamata olive tepanade, bacon, artichoke hearts! Gouda, cheddar, brie, blue, and rosemary manchego! And homemade Cajun chicken gumbo on the weekends! Need I say more? Fresh brewed sweet tea? How about a Guinness Float for dessert? Just go, meet the wonderful owners and be good to yourself. YUM!
Cafe Limelight: Good food, nice ambiance and the WORST customer service, but why?. Upon reading many wonderful reviews on Cafe Limelight I decided to take my mother out to lunch there. It is a rare and special occasion when my mother and I get to spend time together (she was out visiting from Vermont for the event of my graduation) and I was hoping to make every moment count. The setting was cozy and comfortable, the waiter was very friendly and the food was quite tasty. We were not famished so we decided that we would share the low-carb sandwich and then chose the option of upgrading our salad to a 'deluxe' for an extra charge of $4. All seemed fine until the check came and upon review we had not been overcharged so I had asked the waiter to clarify. He seemed to be understanding and told us to 'hold on a sec.' I assumed that he was fixing the discrepancy but instead the chef appeared at our table to explain that they did not allow split sandwiches and that the waiter had charged us for a half a sandwich and side salad. I began to explain that that was all fine and good but the issue was that the waiter had never told us that that was the case when we ordered and then took the liberty to charge us for something entirely different without our knowledge. Whether or not my point was valid or not did not even deserve what followed. The guy literally lost it. He verbally abused us; shouted at us to "get out!" that we were "86ed" and to "never come back!" My mother turned quite pale and said, "But, we would like to pay-" which was returned with another variation of the aforementioned string of angry words. I have never been treated so poorly in any establishment in my life! I was left very clueless as to why this happened. Did we catch the chef on a very bad day- maybe something horrible happened and we were the straw that broke the camel's back? However, that does not excuse the way we were treated. I am left to conclude that yes, I will never EVER return to Cafe Limelight- scary place!!!
