I went there just to check it out, while waiting for my daughter theater class to end. I had just arrived in Santa Cruz, less than a month before. And desperately needed a stylist. They gave me the free consultation for what I was interested in and with the person that dealt with my type of hair (which is very VERY curly, almost ethnic), Ashley. That day I made an appointment to change my look for my 27th B-Day. Ashley was definitely the one that knew how to deal with my type of hair. The new cut and style were just what I wanted... Girlie and simple but not common, and professional at the same time, plus manageable. My beau, who likes long curly hair LOVED IT... and it wasn't curly or long! I went there again after a couple of weeks, Glen gave me the greatest wash I've ever had, more like an out of this world head massage. His blower and ironing technique where very good, but not so much for my type of hair, amount or cut. So..... I made another appointment with Ashley.... I mean... Why fix it if it isn't broke. I stick with what works. I definitely recommend you to have an idea of what your want, and then make an appointment for a consultation, so they set it up with the specialist in your hair and desired style. Be on time for the appointments, you could wait 5 or 10 min. But is a beauty salon... it's to be expected.... On my next visit I plan to buy some of their products, to maintain my cut and style.
Pros: The products they use are fantastic for my hair, their service and my preferred stylist is great with my hair. Good value.
Cons: Your stylist may not be working on the day you need her. Everyone is a specialist in their area and not great at the other areas.

Do you want to feel like a million bucks? Go and see Glen at La Salon Cruz. Not only is he personable and articulate, he KNOWS his stuff! He gave me a great color touch up that looks perfect ( it takes skill to match someone else's work and Glen did) . He also gave me great trim and showed me how to style my hair differently. We had a great conversation about a plethora of things. I have had my hair done all over the country ( L.A., Santa Barbara, and S.F.) and Glen rocks!!!!!. I was vacationing in Aptos for the week , I live 2 hours away and I will make the drive to let Glen work his magic again. Le Salon Cruz is LUCKY to have him on staff. What an asset. Great ambiance and music in salon too!
