Not That Good.
Went there on a Friday night. The place was completely crowded.
We sat at the counter and were waited on immediately from the bartender.
We ordered Margaritas. They arrived over the rocks BUT we do not like them that way and he never asked us how we wanted them blended or over the rocks?? With a smile he changed them to blended drinks, which were very good.
Our food order came quickly. We ordered enchilada and chili relleno. The pork enchillada was great but not enough sauce. The relleno was so hot I immediately started to cough but there was no water at the table. How frustrating! After flagging down the waitress we got water finally.
Our waitress never asked us how our meal was?
Finally I must say that I would not go back for mexican food at Tortilla Flats, which is much better many other places.

Nice Work.
Service was excellent. I inspected the place the next day and found it to be extremely satisfactory.
The technician did a great job without any supervision.

Best Place.
My friend had a dinner with his family at Tortilla Flats and he suggested me, to have a dinner at that place. When I entered I saw at walls, it was decorated with antique pottery. The artwork on the walls was just stunning and about Food it was just amazing especially Mexican. Service provided by the authority was commendable. I have decided next time I will take my family at Tortilla Flats.

The One & Only Tortilla Flats!.
If you have not tried Tortilla Flats in Soquel, CA you are in for a treat! Try any special on their list and you will get consistently delicious food. Sample their tapas or usual menu items and you will be just as content. Take the whole family there, including the "picky" kids and grandmother and everyone will leave saying they can't wait to return. The wine list is impressive for a small restaurant and the margaritas are yummy!

Not your average taqueria.
When I was going to Tortilla Flats I envisioned just some average taqueria. Once I entered the door at that instant I realized that it was anything but your average taqueria. The artwork on the walls was just stunning. I sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender (who was very interesting to talk to and was a genuine character) while I ate some tasty tapas, and drinking a margarita. By the end of the night, I would say that I was a very satisfied customer and will return soon.

Ole Mole! event at tortilla flats in santa cruz, california.
Definitely the most consistent restaurant in the Soquel/Santa Cruz area. I went during their "Ole Mole!" event and was delighted with the flavors of my mole prueba (A five chile mole in the puebla style Complex and spicy to hot. Served with chunks of beef brisket.) I recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area.

Lovely night in Santa Cruz.
I ate at tortilla flats today and was very pleased by all the flavors and how beautiful the dishes looked. My friends said the Margaritas were outstanding but I don't drink so I couldn't say anything about that. The general ambience of the restaurant made the experience complete.

Not Authentic Mexican food!.
Tortilla Flats in Santa Cruz. 8/1/07
What I noticed first about this restaurant was some newspaper articles on the window. I felt good about that. The restaurant had a pleasant feel to it. Beautiful colored pottery lined the shelves and wall. It was small and clean. A good sign. There were 5 of us and the busboy immediately arranged for our table. Upon being seated the waiter arrived with some chips and salsa. The chips were crispy, tasteless, and had an awful after taste that resembled cheap oil. I started to worry. To me an indication of a great Mexican restaurant is their chips and salsa. I noticed people at our table started pouring salt over the chips. Comments were being made. The chips are terrible. We ordered our drinks and someone at the table ordered a margarita. It was small and resembled a child?s sundae dish. We all laughed!
The food was nothing to brag about. I ordered the chile rellenos. I was anticipating a fluffy relleno, like the menu stated, but instead I received a flat greasy cheesy relleno with a sauce smothered on top that taste like stewed tomatoes with canned chiles. It was horrible! I ordered a side of corn tortilla to help with the oil and what I got were two dried tortillas barely warm between to small plates. The rice wasn?t what I was expecting, dark colored over powered with cumin and extremely dry. The beans taste like canned refried beans topped with sauce to cover the canned taste. Menu stated full order with meal. It was small portioned. The only person happy with their meal was my husband. He ordered one mole enchillad with rice and beans. He said the mole was very good, but would not drive out of his way to eat there again. No, one truly enjoyed their food. I was very disappointed and wish we would of stayed in town and eaten at El Palomino on Pacific Ave, we have eaten there several times and know the food and margarita?s are good, but wanted to try something different .

Editorial Review.
Since 1978, this Mexican restaurant serves everything from echiladas and tostadas to fish tacos and tamales. Low-fat menu available.

Food is pretty good, nice atmosphere.
Nice atmosphere, very cozy, romantic little gem. Excellent salsa. Margarita was dissapointing. Not sure if this is actually owned by Mexicans, all the servers were white.
