Great little restaurant. Cute place with friendly service. Had to wait about 20 min. to get in on a Sunday but it was worth it. Everyone's breakfast was excellent and the staff was above and beyond what you normally find in Santa Cruz. Highly recommended.

Nothing Special. I guess there aren't a lot of choices for brunch in downtown Santa Cruz, because this place was packed with a long line on a February Sunday morning at 9:30 am. The food was palatable, but certainly not memorable. Considering the locale and the crowd, I expected more than just sliced deli ham in my omelet. Similarly, the bread was of the sliced supermarket variety. The space was also lacking in charm. If there's nothing else, this is an acceptable choice.

FANTASTIC Food!. I live in SJ but don't mind the drive to Santa Cruz to get Walnut Ave. Cafe's awesome breakfasts! Their tofu (and regular) scrambles are delicious! My b/friend has their chicken pesto sandwhich & LOVES it. I've tried a couple of other chicken items there before I turned vegetarian & they were also awesome! I know others complained of the price but maybe they were from out of town. The portions you get for appx. $7 a plate (avg.) is enough to make many happy. No "biggie sizes" needed. There's plenty of food w/each plate. I HIGHLY recommend this cafe...their staff is friendly, prices are average & food is wonderful!

Quaint little cafe. I've only been at the Walnut Ave. Cafe once, but keep meaning to go back. It's been a while, so I can't outright refute the arguments about the prices, but I don't remember thinking it was too expensive. The food was excellent and so was the service. Only downside is finding parking downtown, but that's a problem for every place in the area...

I'll Second That. Sweet, pretty little place...but they could do better on the portions for the price. Plus it is like pulling teeth to get my coffee refilled in a timely manner and that drives me nuts. Nevertheless, we eat here often cause they're open for breakfast later than the number one spot in town, which is Zachary's hands down. I often like Walnut's interesting specials though, which are posted on the board out front and I like their chicken sandwich with tomato-pesto sauce. The outdoor seating is nice too, on a warmer day. My boyfriend loves their eggs benedict but honestly I've had better. Busy busy place though so they must be doing something right.

Pretty Place, Pricey Food. I checked this place out for breakfast (which is apparently their most famous attribute) with a friend and my verdict is two-fold. First, the atmosphere was great, we ate outside in the warm summer sun and our food was delivered promptly and nicely-arranged. However, the prices were a bit much for what we actually got. I ordered a Belgian waffle, and what I got was nowhere near what I expected for the price. The waffle and fresh fruit were tasty, to be sure, but I would have liked a lot more, something my friend also said. Nice place guys, just toss a few more pieces of bacon in, won't you?
