my bad experience.
I was quoted a detailed price for spaying my dog when I brought my dog Hannah in the price quoted was now a hundred dollars more that the original quote. in addition i was told by the Vet that my dog needed $1400.00 worth of dental work I had previously taken my dog to another vet for a check up and was told that my dogs teeth were fine. I think it would be a mistake for anyone to got to companion animal hospital on mission st. in
santa
cruz
This owner was told over the phone what the price is for an uncomplicated dog spay. On exam multiple infected teeth were readily evident. The estimate included a range of costs, including possible extractions if deemed necessary. The treatment of dental disease was recommended but it was not mandatory if the owner chose to decline it. Dr. Horne is an advocate for animal health and well being. The owner refused to communicate, choosing to ignore his pet?s painful disease and became vindictive.
Companion - Compassionate and sensitive. My husband and I moved here in 2004, and with our family of pets (3 dogs and 1 cat), we immediately needed to find a Vet that would take good care of our family. On the recommendation of a friend, we went to Companion. Right from the beginning, Dr. Horne and his staff made us feel like "Family". The care for our little family was superb, and the fees for service were extremely reasonable. We have been going to Companion ever since and highly recommend them to anyone that has a "Family" to care for , no matter what the size. And, as a side note, we were faced with the inevitable time in life when we had to say good bye to our kitty cat. I have to say that the whole process was handled in such a gentle way by the staff that the transition was much less painful. So, thank you so much Companion for being our "Family of pets" caretaker. We are so grateful.
Companion Animal Hospital. My pets have been patients of Dr. Horne for the last 16 years. My two Golden Retrievers have always received outstanding care. Although most of my appointments have been routine, there have been several times when an emergency appointment has been requested. There is no delay in being seen and receiving competent treatment. When my first dog was "put down", our whole family was present and we were treated with TLC. The hospital even made a donation in her memory to UC DAVIS. I hope Dr. Horne is around as long as I am a pet owner!
Thank you for your positive review, Peggy. It's always nice to see you and your pets. You take excellent care of them and it's a real pleasure to help you keep them healthy!
Their name should be Compassion Animal Hospital.
I was surprised to see the other reviewer suggested that Dr. Horne was just trying to sell a product/service when it was unnecessary.
My husband and I took our two beloved cats to Companion Animal Hospital for 17 years. We always found them to be accessible and helpful. In fact, we started with another local vet when we first adopted our kittens and switched to CAH because we received such personal service there. We always felt like our pets were as much a part of their family as ours.
I never felt like they were trying to push a certain kind of food or sell us anything. In fact, it was more common that they would remind me how I could do more preventive things at home.
In the last two years, when both of our babies began to suffer from heart and kidney failure, we cannot express enough how compassionate and helpful Dr. Horne and his staff were. From giving us all our options, offering to train us on giving sub-q fluids at home, and finally to coming to our home to put them down when the time had come. If we have pets in the future, we won't hesitate to take them to Companion Animal Hospital.
We hope you get another feline companion. We know how you love cats and yours truly loved you. Pets add so much to our lives so it's hard to imagine that you won't fill the void soon. It will be wonderful to see you back in our office. Thank you for your very nice review - Dr. Horne and staff at Companion Animal Hospital.
beware!. i went in for a routine checkup of my dog. while i was waiting in the room i noticed a picture drawn on the whiteboard of an ear canal and a plastic baggy taped below it filled with debris. i thought that was odd, where they giving a class earlier? Dr. Horne took a glance into my dogs ears and told me she had the early stages of an ear infection and that she needed to have her ears flushed. when i questioned him he conveniently turned to his drawing on the white board and the plastic baggy of all the things we might find in my dogs ear! i argued with him for fifteen minutes until he agreed to give me a written estimate. ive had dogs all my life. thye have dirty ears. and you clean them. if they have ear infections, they let you know it. you can clean your dogs ears with solution and cotton balls. DR. HORNE WAS GOING TO PUT MY DOG UNDER FOR AN HOUR AND CHARGE ME 300$ TO CLEAN MY DOGS EARS. DONT GO TO THIS VET!!!!
